Afra Mineral Hot Springs

Afra Hot Springs, located 28 km north of Tafilah in southern Jordan, is a renowned therapeutic destination famous for its mineral-rich hot springs. These waters flow from 15 underground sources, reaching temperatures between 42°C and 46°C, forming stunning waterfalls, streams, and natural pools. The hot springs originate from geological layers of Kurnub Sandstone within the Great Rift Valley, making them rich in healing minerals. The region is home to a wellness center offering various therapeutic services, with the mineral waters used in treating infertility, arteriosclerosis, anemia, rheumatism, and skin diseases. Archaeological evidence suggests that Afra Hot Springs were used by the Romans for both leisure and healing, emphasizing their historical significance. Additionally, the area contains the shrine of Farwah bin Amr Al-Judhami, the first martyr in the Levant, who converted to Islam while serving as a Roman governor. The combination of rich history, therapeutic properties, and scenic beauty makes Afra Hot Springs a unique destination for health and wellness tourism.
