Wadi Namira

Wadi Namira is a valley located in Jordan, known for its deep gorge cutting through sandstone, making it a unique natural destination. The valley empties into the Dead Sea at an elevation of 280 meters below sea level. At its confluence, the river passes by the archaeological site of Namira, dating back to the Bronze Age. Erosion caused by changes in the river’s course has led to the destruction of nearly half of the original settlement, putting the remaining parts of the site at risk.
