Shrine - Zayd ibn Harithah

The tomb of Zayd ibn Harithah, the distinguished companion and commander of the Muslim army in the Battle of Mu'tah, is located in the town of Al-Mazar Al-Janoubi in Karak Governorate, southern Jordan. Zayd ibn Harithah was dearly loved by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and is the only companion mentioned by name in the Qur'an. He was martyred in the Battle of Mu'tah in 629 AD while leading the Muslim forces against the Byzantine army, becoming the first of the three commanders designated by the Prophet ﷺ for this mission. The tomb is part of the complex known as the "Shrines of the Companions," which also houses the graves of Ja'far ibn Abi Talib and Abdullah ibn Rawahah, both of whom were martyred in the same battle. This site is a significant historical and religious destination, attracting visitors from across the Muslim world who come to pay their respects, reflect on the sacrifices made by the companions, and participate in annual religious events that commemorate the battle and its enduring lessons in courage and faith.
