Great Eastern Baths

On the eastern bank of Wadi Jerash, known in antiquity as Chrysorrhoas, lie the ruins of one of the largest and best-preserved bathing complexes in the ancient Orient. Although parts of the ruins are now overbuilt by modern houses and squares and located outside the fenced archaeological site, they remain a significant attraction. A walk to this site is well worth the effort, especially to witness the impressive barrel-vaulted halls that reach up to 11 meters in height. The monumental complex covers approximately 9,000 square meters, showcasing the grandeur of ancient architecture.
