Temple of Artemis

The Temple of Artemis in Jerash, Jordan, is one of the most impressive Roman monuments in the region. Dedicated to Artemis, the goddess of hunting and fertility, this grand temple was built in the 2nd century AD during the reign of Emperor Trajan. It stands on a high platform with 11 of its original Corinthian columns still intact, each soaring 13 meters tall. The temple’s detailed carvings and massive scale reflect the significance of Artemis to the people of Jerash. It remains a major symbol of the city’s ancient grandeur and religious devotion.
