Al-Azraq Castle

Al-Azraq Castle is a historic desert fortress located in Jordan, notable for its black basalt stone construction. It served as a key defensive stronghold due to its strategic location in the Azraq Oasis, providing control over important trade and travel routes in the region. The castle has a rich history, with ancient inscriptions and relics that date back to Roman, Byzantine, and Islamic periods. One of the castle’s significant features is a small mosque within its walls. The site is also famous for its association with T.E. Lawrence, who used it as a base during the Arab Revolt of 1917.
