Zarqa River

The Zarqa River is the second-largest tributary of the lower Jordan River, following the Yarmouk River. It ranks as the third-largest river in the region in terms of annual discharge. The river's watershed covers some of the most densely populated areas east of the Jordan River. The Zarqa River originates from springs near Amman and flows through a deep, wide valley, eventually emptying into the Jordan River at a point 1,090 meters (3,580 feet) lower in elevation.
