Tree of Al Buqayawiyya (The Blessed Tree)

The Tree of Al-Buqayawiyya, also known as "The Blessed Tree," is a centuries-old tree located in the desert of Jordan, near Safawi in the northeastern part of the country. This tree holds great religious and historical significance, as it is believed to be the very tree under which Prophet Muhammad ﷺ rested during his journey to the Levant (Bilad al-Sham) with his uncle Abu Talib in his youth. According to Islamic tradition, it was during this journey that the Christian monk Bahira recognized signs of prophethood in young Muhammad. The tree, remarkably still standing in the arid desert, is considered a symbol of divine preservation and a witness to an important moment in Islamic history. Over time, it has become a revered site, attracting visitors and pilgrims who seek to reflect on the legacy of the Prophet’s early life and the spiritual significance of the place.
