Qasr Burqu'

Qasr Burqu' is an archaeological site located in the northeastern desert of Jordan. The site features a Roman-era tower, constructed in the 3rd century CE, which was later incorporated into an Umayyad complex around 700 CE. An ancient dam, built by the Romans, created a lake that served as a vital water source for caravans traveling between Syria and Arabia. The area has been used by various groups over time, including as a monastery during the Byzantine era and as a meeting place for nomadic Arabs. Today, the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature manages the Burqu Nature Reserve, aiming to preserve its unique ecological and historical significance.
