Beit Ras Tomb

Beit Ras Tomb

The Beit Ras Tomb, located north of Irbid city in northern Jordan, is considered one of the most remarkable archaeological discoveries in the country. The tomb was uncovered during excavation work for a sewage project in the village when a collapse in a main street revealed a burial chamber dating back to the Roman era (1st to 3rd centuries AD). The tomb is part of the ancient Roman city lying beneath the current village of Beit Ras. Described by international experts as one of the most beautiful tombs globally, it underwent 15 months of restoration. With a population of around 55,000, the village hopes this discovery will place it prominently on Jordan's tourism map.
