Umayyad Reservoir

The Umayyad Reservoir is an ancient water storage facility built during the Umayyad Caliphate in the 8th century. Located near the city of Amman, the reservoir was designed to collect and store rainwater to ensure a consistent water supply for the surrounding area. It is one of the largest and most well-preserved examples of early Islamic water management systems. The structure consists of a large, deep basin surrounded by walls, originally used for irrigation and drinking water. Today, the Umayyad Reservoir stands as a testament to the advanced engineering and resourcefulness of the Umayyad era.
