The shrine of the great companion Shurahbil ibn Hasana

Sharhabeel bin Hasna (may Allah be pleased with him) is believed to have been named after his mother, Hasna Al-Adawiyyah. Ibn Sa’d stated: “Hasna was the mother of Sharhabeel bin Hasna, who was the son of Abdullah bin Al-Muta’ bin Amr Al-Kindi. She embraced Islam early in Mecca, pledged allegiance, and migrated to Abyssinia in the second migration along with her son, Sharhabeel bin Hasna.” His father, Abdullah bin Al-Muta’ bin Abdullah Al-Ghutrif bin Abdul Uzza bin Juthamah bin Malik Al-Kindi, was a leader in the army of Abu Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah and played a significant role in the conquest of the Jordan Valley. Sharhabeel bin Hasna was a brave knight who led the army that conquered Jordan and fought the Byzantines in several battles in the Levant. He narrated several hadiths from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), including: "Sharhabeel bin Hasna reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Whoever excels in Islam will be forgiven for what he did in ignorance, and whoever does evil in Islam will be held accountable for both the past and the present.'” (Reported by Ahmad) Ibn Hajar mentioned in Al-Isabah: “Ibn Al-Barqi said that Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) appointed him as a commander over a quarter of the Levant. It is said that he and Abu Ubaidah were afflicted with the plague of Amwas on the same day, and he passed away at the age of sixty-seven. His hadith on the plague and his dispute with Amr bin Al-As regarding it are well-known and were reported by Ahmad and others.” May Allah have mercy on him and be pleased with him.
