The shrine of the great companion Muadh ibn Jabal, may God be pleased with him

The great companion, Sayyiduna Muadh ibn Jabal, may God be pleased with him, was a Khazrajite from the Ansar, a great companion and a jurist who recited the Book of God Almighty and narrated the hadiths of the Prophet. He converted to Islam when he was 18 years old, and witnessed the second pledge of Aqaba. Then he witnessed all the battles and battles with our master Muhammad, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace. The Prophet, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace, kept him in Mecca after its conquest to teach the people the Qur’an and teach them jurisprudence. Then he sent him as his agent in Yemen after the Battle of Tabuk. Muadh participated in the conquests of the Levant after the death of the Prophet, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace, and he died in Jordan in the plague of Amwas in the year 18 AH near Abu Ubaidah, may God be pleased with them both. When our master Muhammad, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace, conquered Mecca in Ramadan of the year 8 AH, he left Itab ibn Asid as his deputy to lead them in prayer, and Muadh ibn Jabal to teach them the Qur’an and teach them their religion. Then, in Rabi` al-Akhir of the year 9 AH, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) sent him as his agent in some parts of Yemen. Then, after the death of our Master Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family), he returned and went to the Levant. He witnessed the Islamic conquest of the Levant and participated in the Battle of Yarmouk. Muhammad ibn Ka`b al-Qurazi said about the reason for his going to the Levant: “Five of the Ansar collected the Qur’an during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family): Mu`adh, `Ubadah, Ubayy, Abu Ayyub, and Abu al-Darda.” When Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah, who was one of the leaders of the army in the Levant, was afflicted with the plague of Amwas, he appointed Mu`adh ibn Jabal as his successor. His two wives died, then his two sons, then he died in the same plague. It was said that he died at the age of 38, in the year 18 AH. Mu`adh was tall, had a handsome mouth, large eyes, white skin, and had thick eyebrows. He had a limp. May Allah be pleased with him and satisfy him.
