The shrine of Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl

The Maqam (shrine) of the honorable companion Ikrimah ibn Amr ibn Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him) is a place of historical and religious significance. Ikrimah was a noble Qurayshi from the Makhzum tribe, known for his bravery, mastery in combat, and exceptional skill in archery and spear-throwing. Initially a fierce opponent of Islam alongside his father, Abu Jahl, he later embraced Islam after the conquest of Mecca. His wife, Umm Hakim bint Al-Harith, played a pivotal role in guiding him to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who welcomed him warmly. Ikrimah became a devoted Muslim, actively participating in battles against non-believers, including missions in Oman and Yemen under Caliph Abu Bakr. He ultimately attained martyrdom in the famous battles of Yarmouk, Ajnadayn, or Marj Al-Suffar, according to various historical accounts. His legacy remains honored, and his shrine serves as a reminder of his transformation and dedication to Islam.
