Site of the Battle of Fahl

he Battle of Fahl (13 AH / 634 CE) was a decisive confrontation between the Muslims and the Byzantines in the northern Jordan Valley, near Tabqat Fahl. Following their defeat at Ajnadayn, the Byzantines fortified themselves in the area, threatening the Muslim supply lines. In response, Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah repositioned his forces, with Khalid ibn al-Walid leading the vanguard, Sharhabeel bin Hasna commanding the main army, and Amr ibn al-As and Abu Ubaidah controlling the flanks. The intense battle lasted an entire day and night, ending in a decisive Byzantine defeat—most of their 80,000 soldiers were either killed or fled. The Muslims secured a major victory, leading to the conquest of Beisan, yet Byzantine forces remained a threat until the Battle of Yarmouk a year and a half later, which finalized Muslim control over the Levant.
