Ghoula Palace – Wadi Al-Ghafar Watchtower

Ghoula Palace – Wadi Al-Ghafar Watchtower

The Wadi Al-Ghafar Watchtower, also known as Ghoula Palace, is a historical stone tower located west of Irbid on the road between Irbid and Kufryouba. The tower stands above the deep valley and once served as a strategic control point. Its remains were documented in archaeological reports from 1904 by the German Society in Berlin. The site is believed to date back to pre-Christian eras and later witnessed key events, including battles against Ahmad Pasha Al-Jazzar in 1776 and military significance during World War I. Today, the tower ruins overlook one of the most dramatic and dangerous valleys in northern Jordan.
