Decapolis Water Tunnel (Yarmouk Tunnel)

The Decapolis Water Tunnel (Yarmouk Tunnel) is the longest ancient water tunnel in the world, built by the Romans to supply water to the cities of the Decapolis. Stretching 140–170 km from Syria into northern Jordan, it passes through Ramtha, Bani Kinanah, and reaches Umm Qais. The tunnel stands 3 meters high and 2 meters wide, and took around 80 years to complete. Scientifically documented in 1989, the restored section in Umm Qais is now a popular tourist attraction where visitors can walk inside and experience its remarkable engineering.
